The 2026 North Zone Senior League season came to a thrilling conclusion on 12 April with Barataria Ball Players claiming the title by a mere two points.
The title race stayed alive until the final hour, largely due to the Ball Players’ clinical performance against the Santa Cruz Sports Association at the Brian Lara Recreational Ground.
In that pivotal match, the Ball Players secured a hard-fought 2-wicket victory.
Marlon Phillip (44) and Matthias Ramdular (41) anchored a successful chase of 197, while the bowling effort was led by Keron Raymond’s three-wicket haul.
While the Ball Players celebrated, title-chasing Glenora Sports fell just short with a draw against Combine All Stars.
Despite a 56-run deficit on first innings, Combined All Stars, led by Frank Simmons’ 58, rallied to produce 203 in their second innings to set Glenora 148 to win.
Zachary Bassanta (40*) and skipper Kenroy Williams (33), who took 6 for 40 in Combine’s first innings, took Glenora to 117 for 3 when the match came to an end.
Glenora fell agonizingly two points short of rivals Barataria.
The final scheduled fixture between The Harvard Club and Savannah Boys ended in disappointment for fans.
The match was awarded to The Harvard Club via default after the Savannah Boys players reportedly arrived too late to commence play.
This default marks a lackluster end to the season for the Savannah Boys, who had previously shown flashes of brilliance, including a high-scoring draw against Ebony Sports Club, where Riaff Ali notched a century (101).
The season was defined by standout individual performances and dominant team displays across the board.
North Side Future Stars recorded one of the most emphatic wins of the tournament, defeating Ebony Sports Club by an innings and 145 runs.

Kwesi Fournillier was the hero of that encounter, smashing a massive 181 not out before taking four wickets with the ball. Elsewhere,
In addition to the Senior League results, the North Zone Cricket Council confirmed that QPCC (Queen’s Park Cricket Club) has emerged as the Division One winners.

Youth player Larell Guiseppi (120) and Akash Singh (102) were the standout performers in the match as QPCC drew with Borg Mulatresse CCC in their final match.

Guiseppi gave further notice of his prodigious talents, also taking 4 for 24 and scoring 67 not out in QPCC’s second innings.
To celebrate the season’s end, the Council is pivoting from the pitch to the pavilion, hosting a massive Bingo event on Saturday, 25th April at the Himalaya Club on Third Avenue, Barataria.

Starting at 1:00 pm, attendees can play for a $8,000 jackpot in cash and grand prizes.
Admission is $150, which includes three cards and a table, with food and drinks on sale to keep the competitive spirit high.
