EYM wins third straight match in North Zone 40-over

El Socorro Youth Movement (EYM) stayed unbeaten in the North Zone 40-over tournament, beating Invincible Sports Club by 183 runs in Round 4 on Saturday 27 April.

QPCC North Zone trounced Ebony Sports and Cultural Club by 290 runs, while Paragon Sports Club whipped Shannon Sports Club by 175 runs in Group B.

In Group A, Glenora Sports snapped a two-game losing streak to beat Bourg Mulatresse CCC by five wickets on Sunday.

Pole 9 won their first match, beating Combine All Stars by five wickets, while Santa Cruz won their second match, beating Savannah Boys by 56 runs.

Round 5 will be played on 4-5 May.

At Boundary Road, Robert Brown’s 112 and 91 not out by Richard Ali propelled EYM to 308 for 3 in 32 overs.

Akil Timothy (4/29) and Keon Isaac (3/15) then combined to restrict Invincible to 124 for 9 in 25.1 overs.

EYM, the North Zone league champion, has now won three matches and is the only unbeaten team remaining in the tournament.

At the Barataria Recreation Ground, Andre Seetaram took 8 for 11 in 1.2 overs, taking 2 hat tricks, to limit Ebony Sports and Cultural Club to 22 for 9.

Earlier, Akshay Colai hit 50 in QPCC North Zone’s 292 for 8 in 32 overs.

At Brian Lara Recreation Ground, Clifton Halls (57) and Antonio Lochan (52) hit fifties in Paragon Sports Club’s 175-run win over Shannon Sports Club.

Kennard Maison (4/45) and Franklyn Rouse (3/39) did the bulk of the damage, bowling out Shannon for 95.

In Group A play, Keon Mason’s 52 not out fired Glenora Sports Club to a five-wicket win over Bourg Mulatresse CCC to snap a two-match losing streak.

Mason’s fifty came in a chase of 130 for victory, with Glenora getting the win in 27 overs.

Earlier, Glenora skipper Kenroy Williams (3/17) and Kristoff St John (3/28) helped to suppress Bourg Mulatresse to 129 for 9.

At Boundary Road, Pole 9 won their first match of the tournament beating Combine All Stars Sports by seven wickets.

Luke Latiff (3/41) and Michael Shui Fang (3/50) constricted the efforts of Combine All Stars, which was bowled out for 180 in 25.4 overs.

Pole 9 blazed to victory with Riaz Mohammed striking 94 not out in the win.

Finally, at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground, Santa Cruz Sports Club registered their second win in three matches as they beat Savannah Boys by 56 runs.

Three wickets apiece by George Malchan (3/15) and Christopher Kashma Mitchell (3/26) helped Santa Cruz defend their total of 158.
