Excitement for the North Zone T20 Cricket Final

The teams will meet in the championship final on Saturday, in what promises to be a thrilling contest.

At Santa Cruz, Combine All Stars Sports Club made a loud statement at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground, dismantling Invincible with a comprehensive victory.

Batting first in a rain-adjusted 17-over affair, All Stars posted a formidable 154 for 7.

Ray Campbell led the charge with a brisk 38, supported by vital late cameos from Kerwin Gonzales (26*) and Darnell Sookoo (26).

Despite Rajkumar Goinda and Dusty Joseph picking up two wickets apiece, the Invincible bowlers struggled to contain the scoring rate.

The chase never gained momentum with Invincible bundled out for a mere 92 in 13 overs.

Rishi Ramgoolie was the pick of the bowlers, strangling the middle order with figures of 2/6.

Brent Lezama and Josiah Kay also chipped in with two wickets each to seal the rout.

Over at the Barataria Recreation Ground, the second semi-final was a much tighter affair.

Savannah Boys successfully defended 145 to edge out Santa Cruz Sports Association by 15 runs in a seesaw battle.

Naresh Persaud was the hero with the blade, anchoring the innings with a composed 45, while Aneesh Sookoo added a crucial 33.

In response, Santa Cruz looked threatening through Alvin Smith (40) and Cordell Andrews (22*), but the Savannah Boys’ bowling unit remained disciplined.

The Ali boys—Sameer and Ameer—proved to be the difference-makers, picking up two wickets each and drying up the runs in the death overs.

Santa Cruz was eventually dismissed for 130 in the 19th over, falling just short of the target.

The Zonal T20 is a dress rehearsal for the T20 Festival, where ten (10) of the best teams participating will be selected to participate.
