Savannah Boys crush QPCC to stay unbeaten in North Zone T20

Savannah Boys scored a crushing 10-wicket win over QPCC on Sunday to win their second match in a row in the North Zone T20.

Teshawn Castro (82 not out) and Mark Sankar (41 not out) made light work of the QPCC target of 126, bringing up victory after only 10.1 overs.

Castro hit four fours and launched eight sixes in his 39-ball knock, while Sankar’s 41 came up off 22 balls with four fours and two sixes.

Earlier, Chetram Ramlal tore through the top-order of the QPCC batting line-up, taking 3 for 23 in his four overs.

Andre Suglal labored to 21 off 35 balls while Andre Seetaram got 17 off 24 balls before Jesse Sookwah gave respectability to the QPCC score with 32 not out off 23 balls.

Sookwah and Bradley Boodoo (14 not out) added 43 in the last five overs for QPCC.

QPCC has lost to Pole 9 and Savannah Boys and faces an uphill task to qualify for the tournament semifinals.

Savannah Boys have two wins in two matches and are in pole position to force their way into the semis.

QPCC plays Santa Cruz Sports Club on 24 July, while Savannah Boys return to action on 26 July against Pole 9.

Meanwhile, North Side Future Stars bounced back from defeat against Santa Cruz Sports to defeat Pole 9 by seven wickets on Monday night at Diego Martin.

Kendall Guerra’s 53 not out off 45 balls was key to North Side winning with 2.4 overs to spare.

Chasing 114 for victory, North Side lapsed to 11 for 2 before Guerra and Akeil Guerra (19) added 55 for the third wicket.

Guerra then put on an unbroken stand of 48 for the fourth wicket with Ramon Diaz (24 not out) to earn the win.

Earlier, only former national captain Imran Khan resisted the North Side bowlers with a punishing 63 not out off 39 balls.

The only batter other than Khan to make it to double figures was Luke Latiff (11) as Pole 9 stumbled to 113 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Andre Medina snared 3 for 16 for North Side Future Stars, while Terrance Hinds earned 2 for 16.

Pole 9 meets unbeaten Savannah Boys on 26 July, while North Side clashes with QPCC a day later.
