Pole 9 Cricket Club

The Pole 9 Cricket Club has been in existence for the past twenty-three years. It was formed in 1997, initially as a Windball Cricket Team, made up of persons who predominantly played hardball. The nucleuses of the founding members came from Mico-EYM and were former students of Queen’s Royal College. In the formative years the team consisted of a number of national and past national players, namely, Keno Mason, Anil Dattoo, Mark Ramkissoon, and Vishal Persad-Maharaj. In addition, the team also had at that time, among it’s playing members, some of the more established players of Windball cricket in country namely:- Ashick Ali, Clint Williams, Wayne Ramoutar, Dave Saroop, Bhoodesh Dookie, Trevor Rajkumar, Pryor Rambarose and Dave Baboolal.

The club was heavily involved, in the formative years, in playing fete matches (both hard ball and soft ball) all over the country. Eventually, the club got involved in playing competitive soft-ball where it was successful in a number of tournaments played throughout the length and breath of Trinidad and Tobago. Within the first ten years of its existence, the Club became a household name in the Windball circuit in the country, coping first prize in a number of tournaments played. 

The Club was also involved in hosting its own tournament (Wind-ball Cricket) at its home base at Boundary Road, San Juan. That tournament soon became one of the favorites among Wind-ball players in the country, even hosting a mixed team tournament, while introducing a structured format and rules thereby innovating in the way tournaments were held in the country at that time. 

During the period 2014-2019 the club was in bit of hiatus, not participating in any official competitions in the country, however, it still continued to host its annual Wind-ball competition and continued to participate in fete matches. In 2020, the Pole 9 Cricket Club has once again gotten involved in playing official hardball cricket and has registered and played in the North Zone Cricket Council Division I cricket competition.
