Santa Cruz Power Past Ebony to Stay Perfect in North Zone T20 Festival

Santa Cruz Sports Club maintained their unbeaten run in the North Zone T20 Festival with a commanding 79-run victory over Ebony Sports Club on Wednesday night in a Group 1 fixture at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex.

The result keeps Santa Cruz at the top of Group A with three wins from three matches and puts them into the semifinals.

After being sent in to bat, Santa Cruz piled up an imposing 187 for 6 in their allotted overs. Ryan Yearwood was the standout performer, blasting 63 off just 36 balls with five fours and three sixes.

Ryan Yearwood, Player of the Match, receives his Khan’s Poultry & Meats prize from Vivica Guerra, Secretary of the North Zone Cricket Council.

He found support from Alvin Smith, who contributed a brisk 33, and Chaedon Raymond with 30.

Late fireworks from Keron Raymond (25 not out off 12) and Davis Guerra (16 not out) ensured the innings finished with momentum.

Ebony’s bowling effort was led by Trey Serrette, Dominic Redhead, and Kadeem Roberts, who each picked up two wickets.

Chasing 188 for victory, Ebony struggled to build momentum against disciplined bowling.

Opener Devon David scratched his way to 17 off 37 before falling, while Clevon Frederick’s unbeaten 40 from 52 balls held the innings together without providing the required acceleration.

Duane Cockburn added 22 not out, but the team could only muster 108 for 2 at the close. Guerra (1 for 10) and Raymond (1 for 21) were among the pick of the Santa Cruz bowlers.

The dominant win highlights Santa Cruz’s balance of power hitting and bowling depth as they press their case for a semi-final berth.

Ebony, still without a victory, will need a swift turnaround to keep their campaign alive in what has already become a competitive group stage.

Santa Cruz Sports will take on the Harvard Club in their final preliminary round match on 23 September, while eliminated Ebony are set to face Combine All Stars on 21 September.
