The North Zone U19 team continued with its 100 percent record defeating Tobago U19 by 25 runs on Thursday at Shaw Park in Tobago. Tobago won the toss and chose to field and did well to restrict their opponents to 229-5 from 42 overs. A damp pitch from overnight preparations forced the umpires to reduce the game to 42 over per side affair. The hosts, despite a 92-run second wicket stand, lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 204 in 40.2 overs.
Several of the North batsmen got starts with five of them getting past twenty-five runs. Only Sachin Emrit, however, got past the fifty mark. He made 54 inclusive of 5 fours and 1 six before being run out. Isaiah Fernandes and Kyle Ramdoo gave North a strong start putting on 65 for the first wicket before Ramdoo fell for 31. Skipper Joshua Davis joined Fernandes, and they pushed the score to 110. Davis was the second wicket to fall for 30. Fernandes was out in the 22nd over for 28. Zachary Siewah with 14 and Niall Maingot 31 not out, gave Emrit late support to push the score to 229. For Tobago, Jayden Kent took 2-34 while Q. Brooks and X. Reid took one wicket each.
Tobago’s Chase
Tobago would have fancied their chances of overhauling the 230 run target when they were 102 for the loss of just two wickets in the 20th over, but they lost their last eight wickets for 102 runs to be all out twenty-six runs shy of the target. Josh Telemaque with 53 and Jayden Kent 52 were the standout batsmen for Tobago. The bowling for North saw Zackary Siewah taking 3-36, Kyle Ramdoo 2-10, Joshua Davis 2-35, and Joshua James 1-18.
Tobago’s Jayden Kent, for his all-round performance, was named Man of the Match.
