North Zone secures semi-final spot in PriceClub U17 tournament

The North Zone Under 17 team made it two wins in two games when they breezed past the Tobago Under 17s by 139 runs on Friday at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground in Santa Cruz.

The Adrian Mahase show

Batting first after winning the toss, North racked up 250 for the loss of five wickets thanks to half-centuries from Adrian Mahase 92, and Niall Maingot 56, his second half-century of the tournament. Mahase and Maingot came together with the score on 69-2 after the loss of Aditya Ramdeen for 34 and Ryan Yearwood 3. They shared in a 120-run partnership before Maingot was caught by Zion James off the bowling of Michael Ramdass shortly after getting to his half century. Mahase soldiered on but eventually fell bowled by Theo Bruce, eight runs shy of three figures, off the first ball of the final over. Maleek Lewis contributed 15 runs and Nakalon Babb remained not out on 18. Ramdass took 2-41, while Bruce, Brandon Melville and Daviel Thomas took one wicket each.
