Match Day 11

Savannah Boys Make It Three In Three

Savannah Boys remained perfect in Group B of the North Zone Cricket Council’s T20 competition winning their third game on the trot.

On Friday, the Savannah Boys defeated Invincible Cricket Club by ten runs behind a blistering hundred from guest player Mario Belcon. Belcon scored 119 out of total of 190 as he punished the Invincible bowling to all parts, stroking sixteen 4’s and three 6’s. He dominated an opening stand of 62 with Sameer Ali, who made the second-best score of 17. Aneesh Sookoo was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 16. Belcon was finally dismissed in the 19th over, caught by Raphael Ali off the bowling of Miguel Mahabir after facing 71 deliveries.

Savannah Boys lost six wickets in all with Mahabir taking 3-36, Ramesh Dhanraj 2-27 and Franklin Rouse 1-42.

In reply, Invincible put up a good fight getting to 180-5. Mahabir, batting at number five, followed up his excellent bowling performance with a top score of 80 from 49 balls.

But it was Raphael Ali who came to the crease after the loss of the openers with just 30 runs on the board and gave the reply the impetus needed. Ali struck five 6’s and one 4 in a 23-ball 44 and added forty runs in 18 balls with Franklin Rouse before he was out in the eighth over.

Rouse and Mahabir put on 86 runs for the fourth wicket before Rouse fell off the final ball of the 17th over with the score on 156, Invincible still needing 34 runs off 18 balls. They could only manage 24 of those runs with Mahabir the last man out with one ball left in the innings.

Vishan Jagessar took 2-27, Chateram Ramlal, Ameer Ali and Pradeem Ali had one each.

Sween Century Secures First Win for Barataria

Dexter Sween led Barataria to their first win in the competition. The opener helped make a 174 run chase look easy as he scored an unbeaten 110 to lead the Ball Players to an eight-wicket win over Combine All Stars.

Sween pounded eleven 4’s and six 6’s and faced 54 balls at a strike rate of 203.7. Sween put on 111 with opening partner Joey Samuel. Samuel made 41 before he was the first of two wickets for Rondell Ramlogan. John’s contribution was seven runs.

Ramlogan finished with 2-29 as Combine used eight bowlers.

Earlier, Keshan Roopnarine led the Combine All Stars scoring 71 before he was stumped off the bowling of Vaughn Brown. Rondell Ramlogan, batting at the top of the order, made 32 while Barry Hassanali and Roopnarine added 89 runs for the fourth wicket when Hassanali was unfortunately run out in the 16th over with the score on 141. Match Day 9

Savannah Boys Pummel North Coast

Savannah Boys made light work of their North Zone CC T20 match against North Coast United on Wednesday.

Kendall Guerra, the North Coast captain, called correctly at the toss and elected to field. That decision may not have been the best as Savannah Boys romped to 229-5 with Mario Belcon leading the way with 89. Vishan Jagessar was also among the runs with an unbeaten 50. Jagessar found able assistance from Pradeem Ali and Aneesh Sookoo as they helped push the score over 200.

Belcon and Sookoo added 89 for the second wicket before Sookoo was caught by Shakeel Johnson off the bowling of Darrel Dennison for 25. P.
