North Zone Under 19s made light work of their encounter with their East Zone counterparts, winning by eight wickets at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground in Santa Cruz on Thursday.
East, batting first after winning the toss, were bowled out for just 63 in 37.3 overs with just two of their batters, Rondell Ramlogan 16 and Kavir Boodoosingh 10, getting into double figures. Abdur-Rahman Juman, Abdullah Cambridge, Wayne Edwards, and Akash Singh took two wickets each, while Joshua James and Joshua Davis picked up one each.
North chased down the target in just 14.3 overs for the loss of two wickets with opening batsman Kyle Ramdoo continuing his fine form with an unbeaten 43. Ramdoo and Isaiah Fernandes put on 55 before Fernandes was the first to go, trapped lbw for 7 and despite losing Joshua Davis for no score with just one run added, a victory for North was never in doubt. Ethan Aparicio and Rikki Ragoonanan were the successful bowlers for East.
The North team is now assured a semi-final spot, having gained two wins in their first two matches, even before their penultimate game in the preliminary round of matches versus Tobago in the sister isle on Thursday 16th March.
