Kamil Pooran scored the biggest century of the North Zone Cricket Council’s
T20 competition, leading Glenora to another 200-plus total and an 84-run win
over Shannon Sports Club on Thursday at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex.
The opener pounded the Shannon bowling attack, amassing 147 runs from 69
balls and smashed 12 fours and 10 sixes. Glenora, through Pooran’s heroics,
reached 229-2, their third total over 200 for the tournament.
In reply, Shannon could only muster 145-8 behind 55 from Iqwe Craig and 41
from Waylon George-Joyeau. No other batsman was up to the task with Tariq
Mitchell being the only other batter in double figures, 11 not out.
Dyanand Nigel Patrick was again the pick of the bowlers for Glenora, taking 3-
24, while Jonathan Ferran took two for 18. Tevon Jadoo and Vishal Persad
picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, it was the Pooran show as he dominated two century partnerships, the
first, a 116-run stand with Keon Mason for the second wicket, Mason
contributing 39 and an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 102 with Tevon
Jadoo, who made 24. Pooran’s opening partner KD Williams fell for 3 with the
score on 11 in the second over.
The wicket takers for Shannon were Rodwell Williams and Andy Alexander.
Pooran was the obvious choice for Man of the Match.
Glenora joins Police from Group A in the final four both teams finishing their
four matches with 10 points, three wins one abandoned fixture.

Invincible Cut Down Pole 9
Invincible Cricket Club defeated Pole 9 by 45 runs in the second match of an Indian Arrival Day double header at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex on Tuesday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Invincible posted 172-6 in their 20 overs and then dismissed Pole 9 for 129 in 16.5 overs. Miguel Mahabir did the brunt of the damage for Glenora bagging five wickets for fourteen runs in 3.5 overs. Ramesh Dhanraj supported well with 3-22 and Franklin Rouse picked up 1-32.
Opener Wendell Samuel top scored for Pole 9 with 39 before he was run out. Kareem Hamilton, batting at number four, was last man out caught by Dhanraj of the bowling of Mahabir for 24 and Samuel’s opening partner, Imran Khan was the only other batsman in double digits with 18.
When Invincible batted, guest player and opener Brandon Maharaj led the batting with 55 before he too was runout. His opening partner Shameer Ali made 39 while Dhanraj 23 and Rouse 20 were also amongst the runs.
For Pole 9, Imran Khan took 2-23 while Kareem Hamilton bagged 2-28. Rishi Mannah took the other wicket to fall.
Miguel Mahabir, for his five-wicket haul, was named Man of the Match.
Police Dominate Five Over Match
Rain played a major part in Tuesday’s first match between Police and Combine All Stars, reducing the encounter to five overs per side. When the toss was eventually taken, Police called correctly and opted to bat first.
They were not prepared to take any chances and went hard from ball one. Nicholas Sookdeosingh smashed 35 from 14 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, Brandon Ramdial struck a six and a four in 13 from eight and Dejourn Charles faced four balls and scored 18 runs complete with three maximums.
Police, 76-3 in five overs.
In response, Combine started well and scored 21 off the first nine balls but they lost three wickets for no runs, all off the bowling of Damien Brown and that collapse broke the back of the run chase as they could only get to 32-5 in their five overs.
Brown finished with 3-7 while Dion Wells and Brian Yearwood shared the other two wickets to fall.
Damien Brown was named man of the Match.
