Jamaica wins again, and Guyana takes the Points in second round CUT Les Harris Cricket Tournament

Day two of the Les Harris Cricket Tournament saw a doubleheader with hosts T&T clashing
with Guyana and Jamaica playing Guyana in the second match.

In game one, Guyana won the toss and decided to bat. They amassed 152 runs on the quick outfield of the Diego Martin Sports Facility. Kevon Jawahir contributed 41 off 25 balls before he was caught by T&T’s skipper Malcolm Ramlogan off the bowling of Rienzo Trotman. Roger Henry amassed 33 before he was
stumped by wicketkeeper Adrian Ali and Ranole Bourne was not out on 25. Jawahir and Henry put on a partnership of 70. The pick of the bowlers for T&T was Rienzo Trotman with 3 for 25, Lester Hanooman, 3 for 28, and Shiva Rambaran, with 2 for 24.

T&T’s turn at the crease saw instant success for the Guyanese outfit, top scorer for Trinidad and Tobago in the first game Adrian Ali was dismissed in the first over. They lost wickets regularly and could only get to 109 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Timothy Derry contributed 29, Christopher Siewsankar, 17, and Rick Cassie, 12. The highest partnership for T&T was between Timothy Derry and Siewsankar.

Kevin Paul got 2 for 21, and Andrew Richmond 2 for 15. Kevon Jawahir had an economical, conceding 1.33 per over in his 3 overs.

GUYANA Won By 43 runs

In match 3, Jamaica vs Guyana, Guyana won the toss and decided to bat. Roger Henry contributed 17, Andrew Richmond, 15, and Wayne Osbourne, 14 in a total of 114 in 19.4 overs. Richmond and Henry had the best partnership for the Guyana team of 22.

Bowling for Jamaica, Ojay Shields had figures of 3 for 30, and Odain Mc Catty, had 4 for 14.

Jamaica raced to 117 for 2 in 9.4 overs. Damion Wolliston with an impressive 47 not out in 23 balls, Ricardo McIntosh, 38 off 20balls and Herman Henry, 16 saw the Jamaicans to an easy victory.

Kevon Jawahir was the only successful bowler for Guyana, taking 2 wickets for 31 runs in his 3 overs.

Jamaica won by 8 wickets.

The competition continues Thursday, April 6 at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex with T&T playing Jamaica at 10 am in the first of a doubleheader and then Guyana at 2.30 pm.
