Invincible Cricket Club survived a dramatic scare to book their place in the North Zone T20 semi-finals, edging The Harvard Club by just two runs in a thrilling quarterfinal at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
Invincible posted 155 for five, built around Darren Chaitra’s 45 and a brisk 35 from Dusty Joseph.
In reply, Harvard fell agonizingly short on 153 for six despite strong contributions from Keegan Jones (46) and Andre Yard (43).
Joseph returned to haunt the opposition with a decisive 4 for 28, while Suresh Dhanraj delivered a pivotal late burst, claiming two wickets off the final two balls of his spell.
Dillon Arcia then held his nerve in the last over, restricting Harvard to 13 runs with 16 required for victory.
At the Brian Lara Recreation Ground, Santa Cruz Sports Association secured a convincing 25-run win over Ebony Sports Club.
Alvin Smith (48) and Devon Sween (47) powered Santa Cruz to 160 for seven, before a disciplined bowling effort led by Javon Charles (3/17) dismissed Ebony for 135.
Savannah Boys also advanced with a composed 19-run victory over QPCC at the Savannah.
Naresh Persaud starred with a commanding 76, while Roshan Sookoo’s 3 for 23 ensured QPCC were limited to 132 for nine.
Meanwhile, Combine All Stars delivered one of the most complete performances of the round, defeating Barataria Ball Players by 33 runs.
Kerwin Gonzales struck an unbeaten 42 and later returned to take two wickets, while Josiah Kay’s superb 4 for 17 sealed the result.
The semi-finals are set for Sunday, with Savannah Boys facing Santa Cruz Sports Association at Barataria, while Combine All Stars meet Invincible at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground.
