El Socorro Youth Movement (EYM) stayed unbeaten in the North Zone 40-over tournament after a dominating nine-wicket win over Ebony Sports and Cultural Club at Boundary Road on the weekend.
The El Socorro Club, which beat UWI in a Premiership II play-off last weekend, restricted Ebony to 33 for 9 in 13 overs.
Akil Timothy destroyed the Ebony batting with 6 for 20 while Shakeem Prince reaped 3 for 4.
EYM knocked off the runs in only 3.2 overs to win the match and keep their hopes going of adding the 40-over title to their league crown.
Meanwhile, at Santa Cruz, Paragon Sports and Cultural Club fell to their first defeat of the tournament after winning their first two games.
Their opponents, QPCC North Zone) totaled 210 for 4 in 34 overs with Andre Seetaram (74) and Andre Suglal (54) putting on 125 for the first wicket.
Iqwe Craig kept Paragon in the game with 3 for 48.
Paragon could not build on their solid work with the ball, falling for 159 in 31.4 overs.
Franklyn Rouse resisted with 42, but Bradley Boodoo bossed the Paragon batting in taking 4 for 19.
At the Barataria Recreation Ground, Barataria Ball players defended 126 to win by 52 runs.
Invincible bowler Kalfani Wiltshire (3/18) led the way in restricting Barataria Ball Players to 126.
However, they limped to 74 in 30.1 overs as Vaughn Browne (3/15) and Derron Wilson (3/19) did the damage.
Barataria took the win by 52 runs.
At Boundary Road, Glenora Sports Club fell to their second straight defeat despite another excellent performance by skipper Kenroy Williams
Williams scored 79 in Glenora’s 174 for 4 in 26 overs and went on to take 1 for 20 as Savannah Boys chased down the runs in 23.2 overs.
Vishan Jagessar hit 67 not out for Savannah Boys in the victory.
At Barataria Recreation Ground, Combine All Stars rolled to a 55-run win over North Side Future Stars.
Yosif Ramlogan smashed 86 while Earnil Ryan got 60 in Combine All Stars’ total of 179 for 6.
Rishi Rampersad then took 3 for 10 while Daryl Douglas had 2 for 15 to restrict North Side to 124 for 9.
Finally, no play was possible at the Brian Lara Recreation Ground where Santa Cruz was due to play Pole 9.
The match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
