In this episode, we feature a young treasure – Joshua Da Silva, as we continue to recognize and acknowledge some of our outstanding cricketers through a video series called “North Zone Treasures”.
This series is sponsored by: National Lotteries Control Board
On his first full tours in which he played against New Zealand and Bangladesh, Joshua Da Silva batted solidly and did his work behind the stumps with some assurance. He held up his end for the West Indies in the tradition of stalwart West Indian batsmen such as Larry Gomes and Shiv Chanderpaul. Now don’t get us wrong, young Josh is not being compared to those very distinguished batsmen.
Rather, it’s a matter of looking at the young man, who learnt his cricket on the fields of the North, school boys and Inter zone cricket, in the mode of solid defence.
In the video below Joshua takes us through his late start in zonal cricket and his elevation to the “Men In Maroon”.
