Paragon stays unbeaten in North Zone 40-over

Franklyn Rouse hit a half-century and took five wickets as Paragon Sports Club won their second straight match in the North Zone 40-over tournament, whipping Ebony Sports by 181 runs on Saturday.

Rouse hit 87 not out, while Antonio Lochan got 49 as Paragon Sports totaled 255 for 8 in their 4 overs.

Rouse then took 5 for 21 to help bowl out Ebony Sports for 74 in 16.3 overs.

Paragon beat Invincible by 7 wickets in their opening match, while Ebony was playing their first match of the tournament.

QPCC and Shannon Sports also produced wins in Group B on Saturday.

The Parkites successfully defended 138 to win by bowling out Barataria Ball Players for 94 at Barataria Recreation Ground.

Dillon Bachan was virtually unplayable, taking 4 for 8, and received great support from Andre Seetaram (3/38) in the Parkites win.

At the Brian Lara Recreation Ground, Shannon Sports Club chased down 176 to beat Invincible by seven wickets.

Kaiden Pollard, son of former West Indies legend Kieron Pollard, was joint-top scorer with 30 for Invincible Cricket Club.

However, Waylon George-Joyeau hit a brisk 76 not out and put on an unbroken 80-run stand with Neil Cumberbatch (28 not out) to earn the win for Shannon Sports Club.

In Group A action, North Side Future Stars, Glenora Sports, and Bourg Mulatresse CCC all failed to build on opening-round wins in the tournament.

North Side Future Stars lost by four wickets to Savannah Boys, while Combine All Stars hammered Bourg Mulatresse CCC by 123 runs.

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz Sports won their first game of the season, whipping Glenora by eight wickets at Brian Lara Recreation Ground.

At Boundary Road, Savannah Boys chased down 182 for victory to win by four wickets.

Riaff Ali had a brilliant game, hitting 62 not out in the chase and taking 4 for 35 in restricting North Side to 181 in 29.1 overs.

Kendall Guerra’s 79 was in vain for North Side as they failed to build on their 23-run win over Santa Cruz last weekend.

At Barataria Recreation Ground, Yosif Ramlogan hit a superb 146 off 120 balls to fire Combine All Stars to 287 for 5.

He struck 12 fours and six sixes in playing the innings of the round.

Dion Pierre then took 5 for 38 to bowl out Bourg Mulatresse for 164.

Finally, Glenora Sports Club subsided to an eight-wicket loss to Santa Cruz at Brian Lara Recreation Ground.

Only Kristoff St. John (34) resisted as Glenora fell in 21.3 overs for 101.

Kashma Mitchell took 4 for 11, while Keron Raymond (2/12) and George Malchan (2/27) supported well.

Alvin Smith (37 not out) played a critical role in guiding his team to victory with 25 overs to spare.

Devon Sween got 32, while Keon Mason took 1 for 9.

Round 3 action in the North Zone 40-over is on 20-21 April.
